Acupuncture & Low Back Pain

As many as 85% of us are said to suffer from back pain at some point in our lives and back pain costs the NHS £500,000,000 a year.
A recent scientific study* has shown that using acupuncture to treat chronic back pain is more effective than standard treatments alone.

The randomised controlled trial compared acupuncture, “simulated” acupuncture and usual care for chronic low back pain.

The results showed that after eight weeks of treatment the researchers found that all forms of acupuncture (including “simulated” acupuncture) reduced back related problems compared with traditional methods and this difference was seen for up to a year.

If you are looking for a safe and effective treatment and conventional treatments have not worked , why not try acupuncture?

Here at St Judes Clinic, acupuncture is performed by several of our physiotherapists, who are all members of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). Acupuncture can be used alongside traditional physiotherapy to achieve maximum results.
